Adult Bengal or kitten: which companion fits your home?
An adult Bengal is not simply a cheaper version of a kitten. It is a cat with a history, habits and preferences. A kitten brings a different kind of discovery, with more of its future still unfolding. The better choice depends on the home you can offer and the individual animal.

An adult gives you a different conversation
With an adult, ask what the cat is like today: does it seek company, accept being picked up, prefer quiet or enjoy visitors? Ask how it behaves with other cats and dogs, and whether the answer comes from actual experience or an assumption.
A cat comfortable in one group may not settle into a different group immediately. Some adults need a home without other pets. A clear description of those needs is more useful than a generic promise that a Bengal is “great with everyone”.
A kitten needs time in your schedule
A kitten still needs guidance, safe play and gradual introductions. Your furniture, plants, windows and household routines become part of its learning environment. Think about the time you can set aside each day, not just the day you collect it.
Our kittens grow up around people, other cats and two large dogs. That gives us real observations to discuss, but it does not guarantee instant friendship with every animal in a new home. Prepare a home with choices for climbing, play and rest.
Ask about health and handling without embarrassment
- What veterinary records and identification documents are available?
- Is the cat spayed or neutered, and what care is currently planned?
- Are there ongoing health concerns, mobility differences, medication or handling sensitivities?
- What food, litter and daily routine does this cat know?
- Why is this adult looking for a new home, and what sort of household is being sought?
Honest answers are not a reason to panic. They help you decide whether you can meet the animal’s needs. If something requires a veterinary opinion, clarify it before committing.
Price does not describe the whole commitment
Our published $3,000 CAD companion kitten price is not a universal price for adult Bengals. Ask about the specific adult, any fee and what is included. Do not assume that a retiring breeding cat, a privately rehomed pet and a kitten come with the same terms.
Whether you choose an adult or a kitten, budget for food, litter, equipment, veterinary care and an emergency reserve. Our budget guide gives you a structure for those questions without pretending every household will spend the same amount.
Before the first meeting or delivery
Tell us who lives in the home, which pets you already have and whether you want a highly interactive companion or a cat that enjoys company more independently. You do not need to give the “right” answer; the useful answer is the real one.
Adult availability changes and must be confirmed directly. Visits are arranged in advance, taking the needs of our cats and kittens into account. If the match is right, we discuss a quiet starter space, familiar supplies and the handover. We remain available for questions throughout the cat’s life.
