If you can no longer keep your kitten

Please contact us before making arrangements to return your kitten. We accept our kittens back by agreement, but a return because your circumstances have changed or you have changed your mind does not include a refund of the purchase price or deposit.

Health checks before returning a kitten

During the first couple of days, additional veterinary examinations and tests are usually not required if there were no other animals in your home. Please discuss the circumstances with us first.

For later returns, or if other animals were present, we require a veterinary examination and blood and stool testing for infectious diseases before the kitten comes back. The buyer pays the veterinary and laboratory costs. Please agree on the tests with us and your veterinarian before booking them.

Relevant infections include feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) and feline coronavirus (FCoV). FeLV and FIV screening uses blood samples; stool testing for FPV or FCoV may be included according to the veterinarian’s assessment. The veterinarian selects appropriate tests, sampling methods and timing. A positive stool test for FCoV does not diagnose FIP.

We have pregnant cats and kittens who have not yet completed their vaccinations. These precautions help protect them. Negative tests do not rule out every recent infection, so we also arrange appropriate separation and precautions on return.

This describes a voluntary return when a family can no longer keep a kitten. Health concerns are handled under the health guarantee, the contract and applicable consumer rights.
